It’s Saturday 23rd April – St Georges Day…. Lie in?
Nope.
5:25 ALARM – Time to get up!
5:45 destination Stanborough Lake – in the car – ICE warning light is ON!
A short 5 minute journey to the lake – hardly any people – just a few swans on the lake, but the sun is shining.
5:50 – registration – we are not the first there… but who will be the first in?
Registration forms completed and when finally the life guards are in position, the race is on – Tom from Tri-Force seniors and Christy from Tri-Force Juniors are in first!
Dad follows a few seconds later….
It’sssssss S-S-S-SO COLD!!!!!!!!!!!
Couple of laps and time to get out – job done!
Warm up (fantastic changing rooms – heated floor and hot showers!), get some breakfast, strap up those legs – then off to the next event – 5km charity run in Harpenden for The Soldiers Charity.
Mainly roads but a flight of stairs up from the train line-path takes it out on those injured legs means Christy is just pipped into 4th place girls but a good time…. 20:23
Back home for cake – it’s still only 10am!!!!!!!!
Just another day in the life of a triathlete!
