7 Tri-Force Juniors took the opportunity to have a go at air pistol shooting under the tutelage of the Head Coach from East Region Modern Pentathlon.
Apart from Alannah Mabbs, who competes in Pentathlon events, all the other girls had never shoot with air pistols and was the first step in trying to get a shooting certificate to compete in the East Region Modern Triathlon event at the beginning of March.
The training was initially held at Jarman Park in Hemel Hempstead so the kids could learn how to shoot with laser pistols and practice the art of the combined run and shoot which is a similar principle to the skiing biathlon.
The kids then moved down to the Hemel Hempstead Leisure Centre for a bite to eat before learning how to use a pellet air pistol to test their accuracy at static shooting.
Amelia Weaire in particular seemed to have a natural talent at shooting , but all of the kids were good enough to be invited back for further training sessions.
The coach commented afterwards how refreshing it was to have a set of kids willing to listen, learn and give it 100% commitment.
