7 Tri-Force Juniors made the journey to Basildon for the first event of the East Region League. We also had 2 representatives in the Adults race.
The day started with a constant downpour of rain but fortunately the weather improved after the competitors had set up transition.
The racing started with the Tristar 3 snake swim. Hannah Barker and Jaime Powell were both taking part for Tri Force, in the younger age band. Hannah Barker was in 7th place coming out of the swim but a super quick run catapulted her up to 2nd place out of 24 competitors. Jaime was 14th after the swim but a fast transition and an 8th place on the run, resulted in a 9th out of 25 competitors.
Jonathan Bint was the only representative in Tristar 2 category. After his swim, he was placed 21st out of 32 boys. A quick transition and good solid run in muddy conditions saw him rise to 17th place.
Tri-Force had two representatives in the Tristar 1 race: Callum Powell and Rebecca Bint. Callum is always so consistent and with a 4th place swim and a 5th place run, finished 4th overall, only 10 seconds off 3rd. Rebecca had a good swim, coming out in 13th place, and with a solid run finished 14th overall out of 22 competitors.
After the trophy presentations, the Youths and Adults set up their transitions for their race.
In the Youth’s event, Christy Durbin and Eva McCabe represented Tri-Force. Christy was only 16 seconds ahead of Eva after the swim but showed great skill on the run to finish first, a minute ahead of second place. Eva battled well on the steep hill climb but wasn’t able to close the gap on those ahead. She finished in a fantastic 5th.
In the Adult Female race was Frankie Durbin, one of the Tri-Force Junior coaches. Frankie was 4th after the swim but unfortunately lost a few positions on the run to finish 6th overall.
In the Veteran Male race was the Tri-Force Race Director, Paul Durbin. Paul was in 5th place after the swim and had a good run to finish 4th overall.
Well done to everyone who took part. We saw some great racing
