Cambridge Rob McLean Triathlon 2016

An early 6.30 am start, synonymous with Cambridge’s Rob McLean Triathlon event, had 13 Tri- Force athletes heading up the various flat roads into Cambridgeshire, whilst keeping a eye on the clouds as they massed menacingly once again, promising  to  bring a third  consecutive drenching to the annual proceedings.

Finally however,  the weather stayed dry and mild beneath timid  grey clouds, and the Tri-Force contingent, embedded beneath the bright Orange glow of the now ever-present  Tri-Force flag cheered and encouraged both their own children and all other  contestants enthusiastically towards  the finishing line.

RESULTS FOR TRI-FORCE COMPETITORS

Tri-Force had no competitors in the Tristar Start event,

TriStar 1

Great performances by Robyn Hartley for the girls, finishing 16th out of 25 competitors, followed by her brother Lucas Hartley who bettered 50% of  the other athletes coming in 21st out of 45 other athletes.

TriStar 2 Girls

We had 2 competitors in this  event.

Caitlin Hartley had a superb 5th place in the swim and came home 23rd out of 38 competitors.

Antonia Jubb further pushed her hopes of qualifying for the East Region IRC team by coming 3rd. She achieved the fastest swim, fastest transition from the bike and ultimately the fastest  run.

TriStar 2 Boys

We had 2 competitors in this  event.

Tom Rayden finishing a very credible 35th out of 46 competitors,

William Hughes, achieving the 2nd fastest run and finishing a superb  5th overall.

TriStar 3 Girls

Katie McAree had never competed in an IRC event before and came 30th out of the 32 competitors.

As always,  the Tri-Force duo of Jessica Thorn and Christina Durbin never fail to provide close encounters, and this event proved no different with Jessica finishing 6th and Christina 8th with less than 30 seconds between them.

TriStar 3 Boys

We had 2 competitors in this event and yet again they were very evenly matched with Louis Paganuzzi coming 29th and Tom Jarman in 33rd place out of 45 competitors.

Youth

Tri-Force had 5 participants with three girls and two boys.

We had great results with Hannah Rayden and Hannah Trotman for the girls, finishing 5th and 6th respectively and Roslyn Chase in 11th.

We also had a great effort from Mathew Honeyman finishing 7th with a third fastest swim.

Adam Hughes will be disappointed not to have finished on this occasion.
