The Discovery open water triathlon takes place in Chelmsford within Writtle University college’s grounds. The lake is set in a natural bowl with high steeped banks providing sheltered swimming conditions. Its quite beautiful and great for open water swimming.
The children’s event uses a small section of public road, with the remainder of the course utilising the College’s cycle ways.
Three Tri-Force Juniors made the journey to Chelmsford: Antonia Jubb, Christy Durbin and Eva McCabe.
In Tristar 3, there were 15 girls racing. Christy and Eva had a good battle over the course of the race. Christy took a lead on Eva by 38 seconds coming out from the swim. Eva managed to erode all of this on the bike and even gained 17 seconds going into the run. Christy nudged ahead with a faster pace, finishing 3rd overall. Eva did superbly finishing 4th, a mere 20 seconds behind Christy.
In Tristar 2, there were 13 girls racing. Antonia breezed the swim, climbing out in first place. She had a great 4th position on the bike and an excellent 1st place run to finish on top of the podium again. She managed to finish a cool 90 seconds ahead of second!
Congratulations to you all.
