6 Tri-Force Juniors went to the Tring Leisure Centre to compete in the East Region Modern Triathlon.
A Modern Triathlon consists of a swim, a static shoot from 10m with an air pistol and finally a combined run and shoot. For each discipline points are awarded based on the score out of 100 in the shoot and time for the other two events.
A top 3 finish guaranteed entry into the British Modern Triathlon Championships taking place near the end of April in Solihull.
Apart from Alannah and James Mabbs, this was the first time the Tri-Force Juniors had competed in a Modern Triathlon.
The results were as follows:
Under 11 Girls – Amelia Weaire was 1st in all 3 disciplines to win the event and also won the best shot medal for U13 and U11 boys and girls with a score of 65 out of 100.
Under 13 Girls – Christy Durbin was 1st in all 3 disciplines to win the event.
Under 15 Girls – Alannah Mabbs was 1st in the shoot and 5th in the other 2 discipline to come 4th overall. With a score of 82 out of 100 she was the top U15 and U17 shot.
Under 17 Girls – Hannah Rayden was 2nd in all 3 disciplines to come 2nd overall.
Junior Women – Frankie Durbin was 1st in all 3 disciplines to win the event.
Under 15 Boys – James Mabbs was 1st in all 3 disciplines to win the event.
Therefore all but Alannah automatically qualified for Solihull and as it turned out Alannah’s score was high enough nationally to also qualify.
Hopefully everyone from Tri-Force Juniors enjoyed the event and will continue to support the East Region Pentathlon shoot training and the event in future.
In the South West Triathlon Sophie Mabbs won the U13 Girls event and also qualified for Solihull.
