Oliver Davis entered the Hillingdon Duathlon on Sunday 17th April – very cold but clear and not too windy as the photos attest. This is held at the Hillingdon cycling circuit which is a private (closed road) 0.93mile track which seems to have had plenty of lottery money invested and hence is a very good track and the facilities are excellent. There were competitions for all ages, although as Oliver is a youth and there weren’t many entrants, the youths ran with the seniors, hence all the distances were a bit longer than expected (2m, 10m, 1m). Oliver was second overall after the first run, then lost ground to the eventual winner of his age group in the 10 lap cycle (seemed like a very good triathlete who represents the London region) and Oliver still made up a few seconds on the 1m final run. Second in his age group and 14th overall out of 37 mostly adult entrants was a great result and Oliver really enjoyed it, despite an early start.
Hillingdon regularly hold duathlons on the course and we’d thoroughly recommend it – particularly given that the cycle track is such high quality and with no cars, very safe.
