A foggy end to October saw Hoddesdon Triathlon Club hosting a cross country training event at Haileybury school. They had invited Infinity Triathlon Club, Walden Juniors and Tri-Force to join them in this first of a series of 4 events. The plan is that each club will run one cross country event to give young triathletes some winter season racing and invite the other 3 clubs to join.
The first race saw 4 boys and 3 girls in the Tri-Start age group disappear into the fog and a few minutes later Callum Powell emerged to take the win. A good start to the day.
The second race had Tristar 1 and 2 racing together, quite a field with 21 boys and 11 girls racing.
Tri-Force did well with Pedro Gomez-Jones coming second followed by Jamie Powell in third. Not too far behind Robbie Laird came in 8th so all the boys in the top half.
Finally as the fog came down thicker and thicker it was the turn of the Tri-Star-3 and youths with 12 boys and 5 girls taking part.
Christy Durbin got a good start to the race and eventually came in third overall, 1st girl.
So overall a good set of results from Tri-Force from the 5 who took part.
After the race it was into the hall for hot chocolate and loads of cakes provided by the Hoddesdon parents. Cost for the refreshments was just donations to the club.
Christy said that this was a well organised event and was great race experience and above all – good fun!
