Christy Durbin signed up for the duathlon at the velopark for her final race of the year. It was a dreary damp day when she arrived at the park and she was suffering from a cold – so thankful it was a duathlon and so no swimming involved!
Christy was the only member from Tri-Force taking part in what appeared to be a Hoddesdon Triathlon club event…. about 30 of their juniors took part in the various races that day! She got off to a good start coming into transition as the leading girl after the first 1200m run, 5 seconds or so ahead of the next girl. After a good start on the bike, she was overtaken on the second lap of 5 and by the time she came into second transition she was 40 seconds behind so clearly too much to make up on the final 600m run. The final straight saw Christy put in her normal finishing sprint, however not quite enough to make up the gap, finishing 14 seconds behind the winner.
Overall though, a fun event – rewarded after with plenty of hot chocolate we had brought with us – and of course her second place medal! Looking forward to the next duathlon in Bedford in March 2016!
