Putteridge Duathlon 2017

One of our junior members, Rebecca Bint, has written the following race report for the 8-12 year old race:

On Saturday 11 March, it was a cold cloudy day for the Putteridge duathlon race at Inspire sports centre in Luton. The 8-12 years old duathlon was a 400 metre run, then a 800 metre bike and finally a 200metre run. We had five members from Tri-Force: Rebecca Bint, Jonathan Bint, Noah Brown, Dylan Cole and Beau Knight.

In the 8-12 years old race, we started off altogether. Everyone was so fast I couldn’t catch up. Unfortunately I found that the bike was extremely difficult because there were lots of mole hills and the grass track was muddy and bumpy and it didn’t help at all.

Noah had a great second run leg, closing down on Dylan in front, and only just narrowly missed out on the top spot. My brother finished a brilliant third as he overtook two people in transition and then kept his position on the bike and second run. Beau also had a strong race with a close competitive finish at the end to come 7th. I came 8th overall and I am really proud of catching up the person in front of me in transition.

In the 13+ race, Tri-Force had three representatives:Jess Thorn, Jed Marsden and Sam Cole. The race consisted of a 2km run, 5km bike and finally a 1km run. All the competitors were nervous about taking an early lead on the first run leg but Jess entered transition in a secured second position. It seemed like an eternity until anyone emerged from the difficult boggy bike course but Jess had easily maintained her position and kept this to the end, finishing second.

One of our newest members, Jed Marsden, has written the following race report for the 13+ race:

I was really looking forward to my first competitive race since training with Tri-Force juniors. The weather was damp and windy but this didn’t dampen my enthusiasm. The event organisation and registration was good. I made up a place on the cycle and held my position during the final run. Overall I finished 3rd with a time of 40.38 and have entered for another Duathlon in Surrey on Good Friday.

Sam had a great race overall and only narrowly missed out on 5th position by 3 seconds.

A big well done to everyone who took part.
